Call for Proposals

Dear Fellow Educators and Researchers:

The South Carolina Educators for the Practical Use of Research (SCEPUR) is the state affiliate for the American Educational Research Association (AERA). For thirty-five years, SCEPUR has promoted effective educational practices by providing an annual forum for area educators to exchange ideas, discuss key issues, and share research findings that can inform educational efforts throughout the state.

We encourage you to participate in the annual conference held in-person at the R2i2 Conference Center.  You are invited to submit proposals for four session types: (1) Paper presentation; (2) Symposium/panel (organized by the applicant); (3) Workshop; and (4) Poster presentation.

We welcome proposals that address one or more of the varied issues that are important to education in South Carolina. Examples of topics of interest to SCEPUR attendees include, but are not limited to: teacher education, retention, evaluation; professional development; assessment; curriculum standards; school administration; program evaluation; linking practice and research; early education; higher education; and K-12/University partnerships. We especially encourage proposals related to this year’s conference theme: Interrogating Consequential Education Research in Pursuit of Truth in South Carolina. We seek participation from a wide range of presenters, including K-12 practitioners and administrators, higher education faculty and students, and department of education staff.

We offer a distinguished paper award for the 2023 conference; For those interested in the Distinguished Paper competition, please note the deadline is December 9, 2022.  See page 2 for more information.
